Extracurricular Activities at Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi offers its students a broad range of essential academic and enriching curricula. The student-centered learning environment is complemented by enrichment and co-curricular courses, offering students additional opportunities to develop their spiritual, academic, social, and physical growth. The variety of extended learning opportunities for the students will contribute to the development of self-aware individuals who are academically responsible and spiritually grounded.
In conjunction with the diocesan Catholic Youth Organization, Cross Country, Basketball and Track are an option for students in grades 3-8. Girl's Volleyball and Boy's Sand Volleyball are also available.
Faculty members serve as moderators for the after-school extracurricular activities to encourage leadership and provide further learning in non-academic subjects. Students in grades 6-8 can serve in elected leadership positions in student council. Elected class representatives also serve on student council in grades 2-8. Students may also participate in after school activities such as Drama and Choir, or serve on committees in Yearbook, Newspaper, and as Web Masters. Outside contractors also provide Chess Club and MUSE (Instrumental) Band after school.
As faith development is an integral part of education at Corpus Christi, the students experience community throughout the day. Morning Assembly begins with readings from the Holy Gospels, or other inspirational readings and a prayer. Students engage in prayer, both communal and personal, throughout the day. School Families, consisting of one student from each grade, are organized to help strengthen the bonds between younger and older students. Each class makes commitments to serve and help meet the needs of the greater community through a specific organization. These Christian Service Projects provide the opportunities for students to reach people beyond the social and religious family which is Corpus Christi.
