Shelter in Place

Some of us have had more time to ourselves, some of us do not. We all, undoubtedly, have many things we can work on in our homes: do-it-yourself projects, organization, cleaning, even the basic laundry and cooking that HAS to be done. As we come close to the end of this adventurous school year, let’s reflect on what we have been doing during our state’s mandatory “shelter in place”.

In our household, we have made tortillas and chile colorado from scratch! And when I say we, I mean Mr. Bright only. I have been too busy trying to keep up with our “Mary Poppins” laundry hampers; it feels endless. Many Corpus families have been spotted hiking and safely enjoying the outdoors when we can, and some even added fur babies to their families!

8th grade has had a wonderful time with enrichment. From Yoga and poker, to cooking and packing (to mainly go to the living room it seems), we are so proud of our graduates, making the most of their final days and weeks as an 8th grader!

6th grade has learned about Greece recently. For extra credit, many of them made delicious Greek-inspired meals to share with their families. Trevor E, happily wrote this short paragraph below about what he learned and Abigail Y shared a delicious photo of the full Greek meal she made and shared with her family!

“Greece grew olive trees that the gods have given them and made olive oil out of the olives which was very important in greek food. Most of their dishes include olives or olive oil.The greek diet was very healthy. They made lots of greek salads and harvested many vegetables and fruits or other healthy stuff such as olives, wheat, bread, grapes and kept goats for goat cheese. They are also famous for grilled meat.”

As our state slowly reopens our economy, phase-by-phase, we hope and pray that we all have found a little sense of joy and peace during this unique season of our lives.
