Every year, we start the school year off the same. Back to school ads in the paper, online, and at the stores. But one thing is different this year… we started off with Distance Learning. Attendance. Participation. Engagement. Classwork. Reading. Getting students to complete written assignments can be challenging. Our Corpus Christi Blog, Comet Tales, is excited to share our love for writing and our community. So our Student Leaders this school year, with a reading and writing focus on their roles, wanted to start the year by sharing with our community on why they enjoy reading and writing!
“I enjoy writing because it allows me to express my imagination and create a whole new world. I love the way it makes you feel as though you’ve gone on a vacation to another world whether it’s Hogwarts castle or a galaxy far, far away. I want to tell the whole school community that writing is super fun and cool and that writing gives you the freedom to express yourself and to share your ideas with others. During the school year, you can expect lots of fun ideas and prompts for ways to write and we encourage you to join the blog club for even more fun writing!” - Brooke
“I very much enjoy writing because it allows me to show my creativity and allows me to express words and my ideas carefully. It also is a way to get my own words out there. This is also a great way to show the reader what they can do too. While I am writing, I wanna show how I can share things out into the school community; to also bring other people out of their bubbles and see if they feel the same way I do maybe. During this year, the community should expect me as the Blog Editor-in-Chief to be a great influence to inspire young minds to write, for our school blog. I hope you will write and share words with people.” - Julia
“I love writing, I have been writing short stories for the young authors fair since I was in 3rd grade. The stories I like to write the most are novels and mysteries. I hope to help and inspire kids to write and have fun writing. Some reasons I love writing is because it allows me to show my personality through words. I get to be creative and write about anything. There are so many different types of writing that everyone can find something they like and that they are good at. And because there are so many different types of writing there are also lots of books, so everyone can also find something to read.” - Riley
“I enjoy writing because it lets me empty my mind, express feelings, and reflect on life. Writing for me makes me feel like I am on a roller coaster, traveling through all different places like one second you're in your bed and the next you are flying on a dragon. I’d like to let the school community know that writing is exciting and takes you to a whole new world, and that it lets you show your true self to others. This year you can expect exciting prompts to show your imagination and encouragement to write and even join the CCB Club!” - Sophia
